Holmdel community gets in the Christmas spirit

The Christmas tree on the campus of St. Benedict Parish and School, Holmdel.Arriving on a fire truck, Santa Claus made a dramatic appearance during the annual Christmas tree lighting at St. Benedict Parish and School, Holmdel, the weekend of Dec. 6-7.
Gathering outside the parish and school complex following the celebration of the 5 p.m. Mass, the event began with a blessing and comments from Father Garry Koch, pastor, who wished everyone a healthy and safe Christmas season. Highlights continued with the children's choir singing; the school’s Rebel cheerleaders leading the countdown to Dec. 25, and parishioners purchasing tasty treats during a bake sale. “Mr. Grinch” also stopped by to get in on the fun.
Once Santa arrived, cell phones were going nonstop with parents taking photos and children sharing with him some of the gifts they wished to receive for Christmas.
