Sanctity of the unborn to be recognized for Respect Life Month throughout Diocese

Respect Life ministries across the Diocese of Trenton have prepared for events leading up to Respect Life Month. Opportunities to mark the occasion with prayer and to bear witness to the sanctity of human life are available throughout the area, including the following:
Sept. 19 – Good Counsel Homes Fundraising Banquet – The 18th annual South Jersey Banquet will be hosted from 6 to 9 p.m. at Lucien’s Manor, 81 W. White Horse Pike, Berlin 6-9 p.m. GCH will honor attorney John Williamson and his wife Donna Marie for their pro-life efforts since 1985, including working with St. Pius X Pro-life Committee in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, founding Delaware County Lawyers for Life and Pro-Life America Radio, and raising nearly $4 million for pro-life causes. Banquet attendance is free, but registration is required at www.goodcounselhomes.org/banquet.
Beginning Sept. 24-25 – 40 Days for Life – For 40 days, a peaceful prayer vigil outside clinics that provide abortions has been annually coordinated since 2007 by pro-life Catholics of the Diocese and across the globe. A kickoff meeting will take place Sept. 24 from 6:30-9 p.m. in the parish center of Christ our Light Church, 402 N. Kings Hwy., Cherry Hill. Hoagies, chips, soft drinks and cookies will be provided, and members of the Sisters of Life will speak to those gathered. RSVP is required by Sept. 13; email Claire Howson, mailto:[email protected] or call 856-313-9861. The Cherry Hill vigil is planned outside Cherry Hill Women’s Center, 502 N. Kings Hwy. Tuesday through Saturday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. More information is available at 40daysforlife.com/cherryhill. Beginning Sept. 25, a vigil in Shrewsbury will take place outside Planned Parenthood, 69 E. Sept. 26 – Rosary for Life and Collection – St. Isidore the Farmer Parish, New Egypt, will host the Rosary at 7 p.m. in Assumption Chapel, 76 Evergreen Rd., before the monthly Altar Rosary meeting, open to parishioners. The Rosary Altar Society also conducts a weekly collection via bulletin request for Walking

Throughout October – Pro-life Flag Displays – Parishes and organizations will publicly proclaim the dignity of the unborn with flag displays representing the lives lost to abortion. Participating parishes include St. Mary Parish, Barnegat, and St. Gabriel Parish, Marlboro.
Oct. 6 – Respect Life Sunday Holy Hour, Fundraising – Planned for 7 p.m. in St. Charles Borromeo Church, 2500 Branch Pike, Cinnaminson. The parish also maintains a monthly collection for 1st Way of Burlington County, which includes monetary donations, clothing, diapers, formula and other baby necessities. St. Charles Borromeo is also accepting donations for God’s Precious Infants through the Boscov’s fundraising coupon. Oct. 26 – Breakfast Seminar “Longing for Life: Catholics, Infertility & IVF” – Co-sponsored by the Pro-life Committee of St. Mary Parish, Barnegat, and the Diocese of Trenton, the day begins at 8 a.m. with Mass in St. Mary of the Pines Church, 100 Bishop Way, Manahawkin, followed by breakfast and seminar in the parish center. Learn how Catholics can navigate the morally complex choices offered by modern medicine while upholding the sanctity of human life and the dignity of marriage. Speaker will be Father Tad Pacholczyk, Ph.D. senior ethicist for the National Catholic Bioethics Center. This event is for couples experiencing infertility issues and those supporting them, as well as clergy and pastoral ministers and those interested in learning about the Church’s teachings regarding infertility, artificial reproductive technologies and morally licit medical approaches. Oct. 20 – Champion for Life Award Dinner – The Jersey shore-area parishes represented by Mary’s Child Pro Life Ministry will host the 35th annual awards dinner at Spring Lake Manor, 415 Hwy. 71, Spring Lake. The event begins at 5 p.m. reception followed by 6 p.m. dinner, which will recognize 2024 Champion for Life honorees Jim and Marianne Sheridan, members of St. Catharine-St. Margaret Parish, Spring Lake, and Lifetime Achievement honoree Lydia Sylva, parishioner of Holy Innocents Parish, Neptune.
