Burlington County

Burlington County Chapter of the Knights of Columbus is working with the Vineland Knights of Columbus in hosting a drive to benefit people in Ukraine Oct. 12 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Our Lady Queen of Peace Parish, 1620 Marne Highway, Hainesport. Non-perishable items being collected include noodles, rice, instant soup, instant oatmeal, nuts, cereal and energy bars. Personal items include tissues, bar soap, toothpaste, band-aids, disposable diapers, first-aid kits, pain relief medication, women’s hygiene products, medical tourniquet, underwear, socks and antibacterial wipes. Other needed items include blankets, sleeping bags, bookbags candles, crayons, pencils and coloring books. Items may also be purchased through the Amazon registry at amazon.com/registries/gl/guest-view/CW5G2OUMC43U. The Vineland Council will ship items to Poland and then to outside of Ukraine.

Court St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Riverton, is collecting baby items for First Way of Burlington County. Needed items include diapers, wipes, baby clothes, formula and toiletries. There is an urgent need for diapers sizes 4, 5 and 6. Items may be dropped off in the basement of Sacred Heart Church, Riverton.

First Way of Burlington, which assists pregnant women in need, is in need for three committed volunteers for Mondays from noon to 2 p .m. For more information, call 609-284-7943.

Holy Eucharist Parish, Tabernacle, will hold its annual Trunk or Treat Oct. 26 from 1 to 3 p.m. The event is open to all children and families of the surrounding area. Candy, food, games, costume and trunk contests will be featured.  The parish will hold a collection for Good Counsel Homes-South Jersey Oct. 26-27 in the Atrium. New items needed for babies include diapers sizes 4, 5 and 6; baby wipes; bottles any size; baby blankets; onesies all sizes. Items needed for mothers include shampoo; conditioner; deodorant; socks; underwear any size; pajamas any size. Gift cards and checks are also accepted. Holy Eucharist St. Vincent de Paul Conference, Tabernacle, has a food pantry that operates by appointment only on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to noon. Persons in need of assistance and reside in Chatsworth, Vincentown, Shamong, Tabernacle or Southampton can call the hotline 609-268-0005 and leave a message with name and number and type of assistance needed. A Society member will return the call within 24 hours. All information remains confidential.

Mary, Mother of the Church Parish, Bordentown, in association with KCKB Productions, will present a musical presentation by Bordentown native Kelly Briggs Oct. 11 at 7 p.m. in the church. He will present an array of music with messages of hope and inspiration along with some Broadway tunes. Guest Jesus Alfonso Gonzalez and the parish choir are expected to sing. Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish, Maple Shade, will hold OLPH HalloweenTown Oct. 19 at 6:15 p.m. The event will include table trick or treating; costume contest; food trucks, music and an inflatable garden. Participants are asked to donate a non-perishable food items for the Maple Shade Food Bank. The parish will hold a Christmas bazaar Nov. 16 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Vendors, crafts, baked goods, gifts, photos  with Santa will be featured.

Sacred Heart Parish, Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Riverton, is collecting baby items for First Way of Burlington County. Needed items include diapers, especially sizes 4, 5 and 6wipes, baby clothes, formula, baby shampoo. Items may be dropped off in the bassinet in the side altar nearest the ramp.

St. Isaac Jogues Parish, Marlton, will host “Walking With Purpose, The Modern Woman’s Guide to the Bible” starting in October. The program seeks to bring women into a deeper relationship with Jesus while also building fellowship with one another. St. Isaac Jogues parish, Marlton, will hold a Trunk or Treat Oct. 24 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Candy, games, prizes will be featured at the event that is free and open to all. St. Joan of Arc Council, Knights of Columbus, Marlton, is sponsoring a winter clothing drive to benefit Catholic Charities and other local charitable organizations Oct. 12 from 1 to 5:30 p.m. and Oct. 13 from 7:30 to 2 p.m. Gently used warm winter clothing for all ages including winter coats, jackets, gloves, mittens, scarves, hats, sweaters, sweatshirts, hoodies, jeans, thick socks, boots and warm baby clothes are accepted. Clothes can be in bags, on hangers or in boxes. Drop off  in back of the church parking lot.

St. John Neumann Parish, Mount Laurel, will host a Praise and Worship Concert Oct. 20 at 2 p.m. in the parish hall, 560 Walton Ave. The contemporary Catholic-Christian concert will feature the vocal talents of Barry De Caires, Gianna Leuzzi and Karla Sarlo. Jackie DiLouie is the director and accompanist. Refreshments will follow the concert. Parishioners and visitors of all ages are welcome. A free-will offering will be collected.

St. Joseph Council, Knights of Columbus, Riverton, will host a Trivia Night Oct. 26 in the Family Center of Sacred Heart Parish.

Tabernacle Council, Knights of Columbus, is hosting a Christmas tree fundraiser. Orders for Christmas trees are being accepted. Families can purchase a cut Christmas tree in memory of or in honor of a family member or loved one to be lit on the parish grounds. Trees are $125. The council will host its annual spaghetti dinner Oct. 12 following the 5 p.m. Mass in Hoffman Hall of Holy Eucharist Parish. Price is $12 for adults; $6 for children ages 6-12; and free for children five and under.

Mercer County

Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish, West Trenton, will observe Respect Life Month with exposition and veneration of the Blessed Sacrament Oct. 12 from 8:30 a.m. to noon. The parish will then participate in the America Needs Fatima Rosary Rally from noon to 1 p.m. in front of the Our Lady of Fatima statue. In the event of inclement weather, the Rosary will be prayed in the church.

Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish Adult Faith Formation, West Trenton, will host a six-session series on “The Eucharist In Scripture”. The series examines the biblical foundations of the Eucharist and explores the Church’s liturgy as the original context for the books of the Bible. Attendees should register by Oct. 9. St. Ann Parish, Lawrenceville, will hold its annual St. Jude Solemn Novena in St. Michael Church Oct. 20-28. Weekday Masses and Novena will be held at 9 a.m. Novena and Benediction will be held each weekday evening at 6 p.m. On Sundays, the 8:30 a.m. Mass  and Novena will be held. There will be no Sunday evening services.

St. Ann School, Lawrenceville7, will hold its fall book fair Oct. 5-11 in the JP Community Room of the Faith Development Center.

St. David the King Food Pantry, Princeton Junction, continues to accept  non-perishable donations for the RISE food pantry in Hightstown. “Feed the Hungry” bags are available in the gathering space. Items needed included instant mashed potatoes, canned vegetables, crackers, rice, cereal, oatmeal, pasta, macaroni & cheese, peanut butter, jelly, granola bars, pasta sauce, canned fish (tuna and salmon), dry or canned beans, healthy snacks, canned soups, chicken or turkey broth, fruit juice, instant breakfast drink mix, canned or dried fruit, nuts.

St. Gregory the Great Academy, Hamilton Square, will hold a fall craft show Nov. 9 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

St. Gregory the Great Parish, Hamilton Square, will offer “The Bible and the Church Fathers,” a 12-session video study series from the St. Paul Center. The series explores the teachings of the early Church Fathers and their relevance to the understanding of Scripture and Tradition. Sessions will begin Sept. 12 and run every Thursday through Dec. 5. St. Paul Parish Bible Study, Princeton, will focus on the Book of Exodus during the fall. The program begins Sept. 11. St Raphael-Holy Angels Parish, Hamilton, will hold a parish singalong with Frank Bresnen Oct. 11 at 7 p.m. in the All-Purpose Room. Future singalong dates are Nov. 8 and Dec. 7. Cardinal Newman Council, Knights of Columbus, Matawan, in conjunction with the American Red Cross will hold The Thomas Cosentino Memorial Blood Drive Oct. 20 from 8:30 to 2p .m. in St. Clement Church, Matawan. Freehold Birthright, an organization that assists girls, women, families, during their pregnancy and after the baby is born, is in need of prolife volunteers. St. Denis Parish, Manasquan, will hold a Rosary Rally Oct. 12 at noon outside the rectory by the Stations of the Cross. The rally will take place rain or shine. Participants may bring a chair.  The parish has introduced a new initiative “Fifteen:5 – A Catholic Community of Faith, Family and Friends.” The initial program will be for those in their mid-20s through their 40s, single or married. St. Leo the Great Parish Bereavement Ministry, Lincroft, will host a six-week guided grief session for adults Oct. 2, 9, 16, 23, 30 and Nov. 6. The sessions provide a safe place for participants to share their experience with others who are grieving the loss of a loved one. St. Mark Social Concerns Program, Sea Girt, is resuming the Frozen Meals Program to benefit The Center in Asbury Park, a volunteer-based state non-profit organization that provides support services for people with HIV/AIDS and their caregiver. Food trays and lids may be picked up next to the kitchen refrigerator in Father Child Hall in the church basement. Once the trays are filled with food, labels with the contents and date of preparation should be placed on the lids. The trays may be placed in the freezer compartment of the refrigerator. The social concerns committee is also collecting travel-size toiletries including: soap; shampoo; toothpaste; toothbrushes; combs. St. Mary Parish, Colts Neck, will host Halloween Halls Oct. 26. The multigenerational event will beg with the 4 p.m. Mass and then continue in Madonna Hall. Theme is “Saints & Superheroes.”

 St. Rose Parish Legion of Mary, Belmar, will hold a Movie Night Oct. 11 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. during which The Chosen will be presented. St. Mark Social Concerns Program, Sea Girt, is resuming the Frozen Meals Program to benefit The Center in Asbury Park, a volunteer-based state non-profit organization that provides support services for people with HIV/AIDS and their caregiver. Once the trays are filled with food, labels with the contents and date of preparation should be placed on the lids. The trays may be placed in the freezer compartment of the refrigerator. St. John Parish’s St. Vincent de Paul Conference, Lakehurst, needs the following items for its food pantry: coffee (canned), tea bags, pasta sauce, boxed pasta (except elbow macaroni and spaghetti), hearty soups, canned white tuna and chicken, cereal for children and oatmeal, canned ravioli. Sugar free items such as jams, jellies, pancake syrup are also needed. food can be drooped in the blue bin in the church hall anytime the church is open. Frozen or refrigerated food should be brought to the pantry on Monday mornings from 9 to 11 a.m.

St. Joseph by the Sea, Mantoloking, will hold a program on “Should I Stay Or Should I Go?” will be held Oct. 16 from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The program will focus on the discernment process of change, whether it’s a job change, relationships or communities. Using the work of author Emily Freeman, participants will examine steps to navigate important decisions. Mass and lunch are included. Fee is $65. Presenter is Janice Santanello. On Oct. 22, a Friends of Bill W. – An Evening for Sponsor/Sponsee will be held Oct. 22 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. The evening will offer fellowship Dinner will be served and a speaker will follow. Presenter is Filippini Sister Brunilda Ramos. Cost is $20. A silent retreat will be offered Nov. 8-10. The retreat offers time for reflection, Mass and exposition of the Blessed Sacrament. St. Joseph Parish, Toms River, will hold a Public Square Rosary Rally Oct. 12 after the 8 a.m. Mass in Mary’s Garden. Participants may bring a chair. In the event of inclement weather, the Rosary will be prayed in church.

St. Luke Parish, Toms River, will hold its 11th annual White Mass for healthcare workers Oct. 20 at 2 p.m. All who work in healthcare of all faith traditions are welcome to attend the Mass in recognition of their contribution to the wellness of others. The Mass is held near the Feast of St. Luke which is Oct. 18.

St. Luke Parish St. Vincent dePaul Conference, Toms River, has a food pantry that distributes food to those in need Monday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Those in need of food should bring current identification and proof of residence. Persons wishing to donate food for the food pantry may place items in the wooden box in the church narthex. Needed food donations include coffee, tea, canned fruit, laundry detergent, toothpaste, paper towels and toilet tissue.

St. Mary Academy, Manahawkin, will hold a clothing drive Nov. 2 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in St. Mary of the Pines Parish Center and Msgr. Reinbold Hall in St. Mary Church, Barnegat, from 5 to 7 p.m. The drive will continue Nov. 3 in St. Mary of the Pines from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and in Barnegat from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Clean, used or new men’s, women’s and children’s clothing, footwear, outerwear, sleepwear, swimwear, hosiery, undergarments, belts, ties, scarves, hats, gloves, handbags, wallets. Towels, linens, blankets, comforters, bicycles and stuffed animals are being collected for distribution to local thrift shops and areas in need. Books and kitchen accessories are not being collected. St. Mary Parish, Barnegat, will  host a Spirituality Day Oct. 9 at 1 p.m. in the Barnegat worship site. The day will begin with exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, recitation of the a decade of the Rosary, Readings, guest speaker, healing service and Benediction. Speaker will be Patricia Stevens who will present “Finding God.” The day is open to all who wish to participate.

St. Mary Parish, Barnegat, will host a presentation “Catholics, Infertility and IVF Oct. 26 in St. Mary of the Pines Church, Manahawkin. The event will include attending the 8 a.m. Mass followed by the breakfast and presentation from 9 a.m. to noon. Speaker will be Father Tad Pacholczyk, senior ethicist at the National Catholic Bioethics Center. Participants will learn how Catholics can navigate the often morally complex choices offered by modern medicine to couples struggling with fertility issues. The presentation will address fertility form the Church’s perspective while discovering very effective, cutting-edge medical treatments for infertility that are morally acceptable and uphold the dignity of life and marriage. St. Maximilian Kolbe Council, Knights of Columbus, Toms River, will host “The Jersey Four” Tribute to Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons Nov. 15 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. in St. Maximilian Kolbe parish hall. Doors open at 4:45 p.m. Tickets are $30 and are on sale after all Sunday Masses through Nov. 10. Proceeds will benefit the K of C “Send A Hero Home” program to pay for the travel expenses for junior military members (E3 and under) stationed in New Jersey who could not otherwise afford to visit their families during their holiday leave.

St Maximilian Kolbe Bereavement Ministry, Toms River, will begin its fall session Oct. 18 from 10:30 to 1:30 p.m. in the church hall meeting room. The ministry is an outreach to support parishioners and neighbors who are mourning the death of a loved one. The group is open to anyone experiencing the loss of a loved one, four months or longer. St. Theresa Council, Knights of Columbus, Little Egg Harbor, will hold an Oktoberfest Oct. 12 at 5 p.m. in the Faith Formation Center. Dinner will feature bratwurst/kielbasa, sauerkraut, German potato salad, pickles, pretzels, soda and  coffee. Music will be provided. Fee is $15 per person.

Suggestions include kitchen items and appliances; bed and bath items, jewelry, purses, perfumes and colognes, sports related items, scarves and glove, wallets, tools, toys and games, throws, candles and candlesticks and garden accessories. No clothes or shoes. Gift items to salons, restaurants and bakeries are also suggested. Donations may be brought to the rectory or to any parish family gathering by Oct. 13. Proceeds will benefit parish maintenance projects.
