Burlington County

Burlington County Chapter of the Knights of Columbus is working with the Vineland Knights of Columbus in hosting a drive to benefit people in Ukraine Oct. 12 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Our Lady Queen of Peace Parish, 1620 Marne Highway, Hainesport. Non-perishable items being collected include noodles, rice, instant soup, instant oatmeal, nuts, cereal and energy bars. Personal items include tissues, bar soap, toothpaste, band-aids, disposable diapers, first-aid kits, pain relief medication, women’s hygiene products, medical tourniquet, underwear, socks and antibacterial wipes. Other needed items include blankets, sleeping bags, bookbags candles, crayons, pencils and coloring books. Items may also be purchased through the Amazon registry at amazon.com/registries/gl/guest-view/CW5G2OUMC43U. The Vineland Council will ship items to Poland and then to outside of Ukraine.

Court St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Riverton, is collecting baby items for First Way of Burlington County. Needed items include diapers, wipes, baby clothes, formula and toiletries. There is an urgent need for diapers sizes 4, 5 and 6. Items may be dropped off in the basement of Sacred Heart Church, Riverton.

First Way of Burlington, which assists pregnant women in need, is in need for three committed volunteers for Mondays from noon to 2 p .m. For more information, call 609-284-7943.

Holy Eucharist St. Vincent de Paul Conference, Tabernacle, has a food pantry that operates by appointment only on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to noon. Persons in need of assistance and reside in Chatsworth, Vincentown, Shamong, Tabernacle or Southampton can call the hotline 609-268-0005 and leave a message with name and number and type of assistance needed. A Society member will return the call within 24 hours. All information remains confidential.

Mary, Mother of the Church Parish, Bordentown, in association with KCKB Productions, will present a musical presentation by Bordentown native Kelly Briggs Oct. 11 at 7 p.m. in the church. He will present an array of music with messages of hope and inspiration along with some Broadway tunes. Guest Jesus Alfonso Gonzalez and the parish choir are expected to sing. Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish, Maple Shade, will hold OLPH HalloweenTown Oct. 19 at 6:15 p.m.. The event will include table trick or treating; costume contest; food trucks, music and an inflatable garden. Participants are asked to donate a non-perishable food items for the Maple Shade Food Bank. The parish will hold a Christmas bazaar Nov. 16 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Vendors, crafts, baked goods, gifts, photos  with Santa will be featured.

Sacred Heart Parish, Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Riverton, is collecting baby items for First Way of Burlington County. Needed items include diapers, especially sizes 4, 5 and 6wipes, baby clothes, formula, baby shampoo. Items may be dropped off in the bassinet in the side altar nearest the ramp.

Sacred Heart Parish, Mount Holly, will begin a six-week fall Bible Study Sept. 18. This will be Part 1 of a two-part study of the Psalms. The second part of the study will be offered in the spring. Participants will use “Psalms for All Season” by John F. Cragham for both parts. The book may be purchased directly from the publisher, Liturgical Press or through Amazon. A study guide by Catherine Upchurch for Part 1 and a study guide by Clifford M. Yeary for Part 2 can be purchased from Little Rock Scripture Study or through Amazon. Sessions will meet on Wednesday. Morning sessions will run from 9:30 to 11 a.m. and will be held in the parish house conference room. Evening sessions will be held from 7:30 to 9 p.m. and will be held in the parish library. St. Isaac Jogues Parish, Marlton, will host “Walking With Purpose, The Modern Woman’s Guide to the Bible” starting in October. The program seeks to bring women into a deeper relationship with Jesus while also building fellowship with one another. St. Joan of Arc Council, Knights of Columbus, Marlton, is sponsoring a winter clothing drive to benefit Catholic Charities and other local charitable organizations Oct. 12 from 1 to 5:30 p.m. and Oct. 13 from 7:30 to 2 p.m. Gently used warm winter clothing for all ages including winter coats, jackets, gloves, mittens, scarves, hats, sweaters, sweatshirts, hoodies, jeans, thick socks, boots and warm baby clothes are accepted. Clothes can be in bags, on hangers or in boxes. Drop off  in back of the church parking lot.

Incarnation-St. James Faith Formation, Ewing, will hold a Red Berry frozen yogurt fall fundraiser Oct. 9 from noon to 10 p.m. on the campus of The College of New Jersey, 200 Campus Town, Ewing.

Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish, West Trenton, will observe Respect Life Month with exposition and veneration of the Blessed Sacrament Oct. 12 from 8:30 a.m. to noon. The parish will then participate in the America Needs Fatima Rosary Rally from noon to 1 p.m. in front of the Our Lady of Fatima statue. In the event of inclement weather, the Rosary will be prayed in the church.

St. Ann School, Lawrenceville, will hold its fall book fair Oct. 5-11 in the JP Community Room of the Faith Development Center.

St. David the King Food Pantry, Princeton Junction, continues to accept  non-perishable donations for the RISE food pantry in Hightstown. “Feed the Hungry” bags are available in the gathering space. Items needed included instant mashed potatoes, canned vegetables, crackers, rice, cereal, oatmeal, pasta, macaroni & cheese, peanut butter, jelly, granola bars, pasta sauce, canned fish (tuna and salmon), dry or canned beans, healthy snacks, canned soups, chicken or turkey broth, fruit juice, instant breakfast drink mix, canned or dried fruit, nuts.

St. Gregory the Great Academy, Hamilton Square, will hold a fall craft show Nov. 9 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

St. Gregory the Great Parish, Hamilton Square, will offer “The Bible and the Church Fathers,” a 12-session video study series from the St. Paul Center. The series explores the teachings of the early Church Fathers and their relevance to the understanding of Scripture and Tradition. Sessions will begin Sept. 12 and run every Thursday through Dec. 5. St. Paul Parish Bible Study, Princeton, will focus on the Book of Exodus during the fall. The program begins Sept. 11. Freehold Birthright, an organization that assists girls, women, families, during their pregnancy and after the baby is born, is in need of prolife volunteers. St. Denis Parish, Manasquan, will hold a Rosary Rally Oct. 12 at noon outside the rectory by the Stations of the Cross. The rally will take place rain or shine. Participants may bring a chair.  The parish has introduced a new initiative “Fifteen:5 – A Catholic Community of Faith, Family and Friends.” The initial program will be for those in their mid-20s through their 40s, single or married. The first meeting, “The Search” will be held Oct. 10 at 7 p.m. in the parish center and will continue to meet once a month. St. Leo the Great Parish Bereavement Ministry, Lincroft, will host a six-week guided grief session for adults Oct. 2, 9, 16, 23, 30 and Nov. 6. Sessions will be offered during the day at 11 a.m. or in the evening at 6 p.m. in the parish center, 50 Hurley’s Lane. The sessions provide a safe place for participants to share their experience with others who are grieving the loss of a loved one. St. Mark Social Concerns Program, Sea Girt, is resuming the Frozen Meals Program to benefit The Center in Asbury Park, a volunteer-based state non-profit organization that provides support services for people with HIV/AIDS and their caregiver. Food trays and lids may be picked up next to the kitchen refrigerator in Father Child Hall in the church basement. Once the trays are filled with food, labels with the contents and date of preparation should be placed on the lids. The trays may be placed in the freezer compartment of the refrigerator. The social concerns committee is also collecting travel-size toiletries including: soap; shampoo; toothpaste; toothbrushes; combs. St. Mary Respect Life Ministry, Barnegat, will observe Respect Life Sunday, Oct. 6 by joining in a Life Chain in which participants will give prayerful, silent witness to the dignity of all human life from 3 to 4 p.m. on the grounds of the Barnegat Church. The weekend of Oct. 5-6, needed baby items will be collected including baby socks, pacifiers, blankets, bibs, “Lovey” security blanket and baby toys.
