A celebration of what makes us different

November 7, 2024 at 9:27 a.m.

The cover photograph of The Monitor Magazine’s November issue tells a beautiful story – a married couple celebrating their 50th anniversary by renewing their vows before God, their bishop and other couples of the Diocese during the Bishop’s Anniversary Blessing events held this past month.

Once again, The Monitor presents its annual tribute to the anniversary couples honored by the Diocese with on-location reporting and interviews, along with dramatic photos, a list of honorees and special congratulatory messages.  We hope you will check it out.

We also hope that you will look for the IN FOCUS section, which highlights some of the hard work and commitment by members of our Catholic community to help those in need. At a time when the label “Christian” has, with greater frequency, been applied to behaviors and values unrecognizable to those who truly follow Christ, The Monitor reports on the Church’s significant investment of effort and resources to bring Christ to our brothers and sisters.

Other content to look for in this latest issue . . .

MESSAGES from Bishop David M. O’Connell, C.M., on the Month of Remembrance and the latest encyclical from Pope Francis on the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

SPOTLIGHTS on the annual Catholic Schools Mass; World Mission Sunday; visit by a bishop from the Vatican’s Apostolic Penitentiary to the diocesan shrine to Blessed Carlo Acutis in Brick; lighting of the Guadalupe torches as they begin their journey through the Diocese.

LOCAL reporting on dual anniversaries marked by St. Hedwig Parish, Trenton; a feast day celebration in Our Lady of Fatima Parish, Keyport; the important work of the Aquinas Institute in Princeton.

COMMENTARY on reclaiming the tradition of cemetery visits by yours truly; sharing the Gift of Story by Mary Morrell; remembering the spiritual side of Thanksgiving, by Father Stephen Sansevere; and Father Garry Koch’s Scripture column, ‘The Word’.

The November print edition has been mailed to all PREMIUM SUBSCRIBERS (those who receive both the print and digital editions). Not yet a PREMIUM subscriber? Upgrade now by clicking  HERE or writing to [email protected]
