Holy Spirit adored on Pentecost in Diocese, around the world

Facebook photo With sanctuaries adorned in red, the celebration of Pentecost Masses on May 19 marked the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles and the Blessed Mother, as well as the birthday of the Catholic Church. The Feast of Pentecost in the Diocese and worldwide was also an occasion for many to enter into full communion with the Catholic Church through the Sacrament of Confirmation.Bishop David M. O’Connell, C.M., celebrated Pentecost Mass in St. James Parish, Pennington, joining all parishes of the Diocese in welcoming the Holy Spirit to renew the faithful’s evangelical mission. Meanwhile in Rome, Pope Francis celebrated the Pentecost liturgy in St. Peter’s Basilica, and offered his blessing to the pilgrims gathered in St. Peter Square.

Holy Spirit makes Christians gentle, not 'overbearing,' Pope says
Inspired and invigorated by the Holy Spirit to share the Good News of Jesus’ Gospel teachings far and wide, for nearly 2,000 years the universal Church has shared in the mission to preach the Gospel with the intercession of that Spirit, taking the Good News to all corners of the earth.
