Mass and March for Life Sept. 26

May 8, 2024 at 5:02 p.m.

Members of the pro-life community from throughout the state have an opportunity to gather in Trenton by the thousands where they can join in peaceful solidarity and show their support for human life in all its stages Sept. 26.

All Catholics in attendance are invited to begin their day with prayer in St. Mary of the Assumption Cathedral, 151 N. Warren St., Trenton, where a Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Bishop David M. O’Connell, C.M., will be homilist. The Mass is sponsored by the New Jersey Catholic Conference and the pro-life/respect life offices from the Archdiocese of Newark and the Dioceses of Trenton, Camden, Metuchen and Paterson and the Byzantine Catholic Eparchy of Passaic.

After the Mass, participants are then welcome to advocate for state legislation and policy that supports mothers, babies and families and to act as pro-life witnesses in the public square during the inaugural New Jersey March for Life that will begin with a rally at 11 a.m. on the grounds of the Statehouse Annex, 145 West State St., Trenton. A one-mile March for Life through the surrounding streets will follow at noon.

The March for Life, organized by the National March for Life and New Jersey Right to Life,  representatives from  the Diocese of Trenton’s Respect Life Ministry, as well as representatives from other NJ dioceses and pro-life organizations in the state, was planned in response to New Jersey’s being one of many states that continue to espouse pro-choice legislation; the National March for Life has mobilized efforts to hold state marches for life in these states.

The rally and march will be an opportunity to advocate for state legislation and policy that supports vulnerable mothers, babies and families, and to act as pro-life witnesses in the public square.
