Burlington County

Bordentown Council, Knights of Columbus, will host a pasta dinner fundraiser April 6 from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Riverbank Charter School, 1300 Hornberger Ave., Roebling. Jesus the Good Shepherd Parish, Beverly, will hold 40 Hours Devotion March 21-23. Opening Mass will be march 21 at 5 p.m. A reconciliation service will be celebrated March 22 from 6 to 9 p.m. Closing Eucharistic Adoration will be held March 23 at 4:30 p.m. The church is located at 805 Warren St.

Mary, Mother of the Church Parish Bereavement Ministry, Bordentown, will host a six-session “Grieving the Death of a Loved One” April 10 through May 22. Santa Maria Council, Knights of Columbus, Mount Holly, will host a “Theology on Tap” inspired event April 4 at 7 p.m. in Spellbound Brewery, Mount Holly. Deacon Jim Casa from Sacred Heart Parish will present “Lent, 2024? How was the experience? Really good … maybe , not so good.” The event is open to Catholic men ages 21 and over. There is no fee. St. Joseph Council, Knights of Columbus (Palmyra-Riverton) is offering scholarship money to students accepted to Holy Cross Preparatory Academy, Delran, in the fall of 2024. Applicants are open to graduating eighth grade students and students who had not previously applied. Scholarship money will be awarded to a limited number of applicants based on their responses to two essay questions, “What does your faith mean to you?” and “Why do you want to continue your education at a Catholic high school?” Applications must include; student name and signature; parent name and signature; home address; telephone number; email address; student’s parish; student’s current school; a list of the student’s extracurricular activities. St. Mary of the Lakes Parish Youth Group, Y.E.S., Medford, is participating in Operation Yellow Ribbon by collecting items for military personnel serving overseas. Donations of any or all of the following items may be brought to the parking lot or street entrance by April 5 protein/energy bars, protein powder, liquid or powder drink mixes, pouches of tuna fish or chicken (not canned), chewing gum/candy, potato chips in cylinder, trail mix/dried fruit, beef jerky, breakfast bars, baby powder and wipes, toothbrush/paste, saline eye drops, Chapstick, tissues, hand sanitizer, sunscreen (lotion only), ground coffee/tea bags, deodorant (stick only), shampoo/conditioner, bath soap, body lotion, shower sponges/loofahs, cotton swabs, feminine hygiene items.

Hamilton Council, Knights of Columbus, has clothing donation bins located on the campus of St. Gregory the Great Parish, 4620 Nottingham Way. Accepted items including all clothing, shoes, sneakers, textiles, linens, bedding and handbags. Items should be in decent, reusable condition and securely bagged. No toys or household items.

Persons wishing to donate items such as strollers, car seats, highchairs or cribs are asked to be sure they are modern and fully functioning. Such items are not to be brought to the parish; donors are asked to contact a committee member who will inspect the items to ensure their safety. St. David the King Parish, 1 New Village Rd., Princeton Junction, will resume having the celebration of the weekly "Last Chance" Mass on Sunday evenings at 7 p.m. starting April 7, Divine Mercy Sunday.

Cardinal Newman Council, Knights of Columbus, Matawan, is hosting a “40 Cans for Lent” campaign. Council members request one can of food for each day of Lent. The collection runs through March 30. Non-perishable food may be dropped off at any time in the bin located in the church gathering space or at the Knights tent located in the church parking lot March 30 between 9 and 11 a.m.

Christ the King Parish, Long Branch, will hold a Mass with the Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick March 26 at 4 p.m. in Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, Chelsea and Second Ave., Long Branch.

Francis House of Prayer, 84 Walnford Rd., Allentown, will host a Triduum Retreat from Tuesday of Holy Week, March 27 starting at 7 p.m. and ending Easter Sunday, March 31 at 9 a.m. Participants will reflect on the Paschal Myster of Christ’s Passion, Death and Resurrection. St. Leo the Great Parish Social Concerns Committee, Lincroft, uses The Butterfly for a Lenten project as a symbol of hope in the Resurrection. In the spirit of fasting and alms, parishioners are asked to take a butterfly envelope from the Sharing Tree and return it with a donation by March 25. Funds will be used to feed those in need in the community. Butterfly envelopes may be returned in the collection box, mailed or dropped off at the parish center, 50 Hurley’s Lane. The items will be distributed as requested and needed. After Lent, the remaining items will be donated to Freehold Birthright.

St. William the Abbot Parish, Howell, is collecting used eye glasses to be donated to the Joe Mazzarella Eye Glass Donation Program. An eye receptacle is located in the parish hall. All eye glasses are donated to the Eyes for Needy Program who, since 1932, provide more than eight million needy people in the United States and throughout the world.

Rev. Gebhard Braungart Council, Knights of Columbus and Ladies Auxiliary, Lavallette, will hold a pancake breakfast March 24 from 8 a.m. to noon in St. Pio of Pietrelcina Parish Center, Route 35N and Washington Ave., Lavallette. St. Leo the Great Parish Social Concerns Committee, Lincroft, uses The Butterfly for a Lenten project as a symbol of hope in the Resurrection. In the spirit of fasting and alms, parishioners are asked to take a butterfly envelope from the Sharing Tree and return it with a donation by March 25. Funds will be used to feed those in need in the community. Butterfly envelopes may be returned in the collection box, mailed or dropped off at the parish center, 50 Hurley’s Lane. St. Rose High School and St. Rose Grammar School, Belmar, will hold a spring clothing drive April 13 from 8 to 10 a.m. Accepted items include: clothing, shoes, accessories, soft household goods, small toys, stuffed animals and blankets. Unacceptable items include sports equipment, board games, pots and pans, electronics, glass, large toys, VCR tapes or baby equipment. Items may be dropped off at St. Rose Red Brick parking lot. St. Rose Parish, Belmar, will host a new eight-session Scripture study on the Gospel of St. John Feb. 28-April 24. Sessions will meet on Wednesdays from 9:45 to 11:30 a.m. in the parish center, 603 Seventh Ave. (Participants should enter through Eighth Ave. parking lot.) There will be no class March 27. St. Rose of Lima Parish Respect Life Committee, Freehold, is sponsoring a collection of baby items during Lent. Collection boxes will be available in both the entrance of the church and chapel. Needed items include disposable diapers and clothing sizes from newborn to age 2 and accessories such as baby bottles, thermometers, clothes, blankets and diaper bags. The items will be distributed as requested and needed. After Lent, the remaining items will be donated to Freehold Birthright.

St. Teresa of Calcutta Parish Women’s Bible Study, Bradley Beach, will host “A Biblical Walk with the Blessed Mother” on Tuesdays from March 26 to May 14. St. William the Abbot Parish, Howell, is collecting used eye glasses to be donated to the Joe Mazzarella Eye Glass Donation Program. An eye receptacle is located in the parish hall. All eye glasses are donated to the Eyes for Needy Program who, since 1932, provide more than eight million needy people in the United States and throughout the world.

Rev. Gebhard Braungart Council, Knights of Columbus and Ladies Auxiliary, Lavallette, will hold a pancake breakfast March 24 from 8 a.m. to noon in St. Pio of Pietrelcina Parish Center, Route 35N and Washington Ave., Lavallette. Tickets are $10 for adults; kids ages five and under are admitted free. Pay at the door.
