RCIA workshop to focus on Christian initiation of children

A summer formation workshop on Christian Initiation of children who have reached catechetical age will be offered for persons serving on parish Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults teams July 20 in St. Robert Bellarmine Co-Cathedral, Freehold.

The workshop, sponsored by the diocesan Department of Catechesis, runs from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., and will feature presenter Sister of St. Joseph Sandra De Masi, who currently serves as pastoral associate for liturgy and catechesis in St. Rose of Lima Parish, Short Hills.

Sister Sandra holds a bachelor of science degree in education from Chestnut Hill College; a master of arts degree in liturgical studies from the University of Notre Dame, South Bend, Ind., and a doctor of ministry degree with a concentration in liturgical catechesis from The Catholic University of America, Washington.

Sister Sandra served for 13 years as director of the Office of Divine Worship in the Archdiocese of Newark and some 20 years as a member of the board of directors of the Federation of Diocesan Liturgical Commissions. During that time, she served as a consultant for the ICEL subcommittee on the Christian Initiation of Older Children. She is currently a member of the North American Academy of Liturgy and a consultant for Maryknoll’s DYN advisory board.
