Around the Diocese, the Solemnity of the Epiphany was observed with celebrations that featured parishioners dressed as kings; the distribution of gifts and sharing of delicious foods and time together.

One such example occurred in the parish hall of Sacred Heart Parish, Trenton, where folks from El Centro, a program of Catholic Charities, Diocese of Trenton, celebrated Dia de Los Reyes by presenting children and families with gifts, warm clothes and bread.

Epiphany celebrates the manifestation of Christ to the Gentiles, symbolized by Christ’s manifestation to the Magi. The wise men followed the star to Bethlehem and to Jesus’ dwelling there. Upon their arrival, the Magi worshipped the infant Jesus and presented him with gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh.
