St. Mark Social Concerns Ministry, Sea Girt, is resuming the Frozen Meals Program to benefit The Center in Asbury Park. The program had been discontinued due to the pandemic. The Center in Asbury Park, Inc., is a volunteer-based not-for-profit service that provides support services for people living with HIV/AIS and their caregivers.
To donate meals participants must: pick up food trays and lids next to the refrigerator in Father Child’s Hall (church basement) at 215 Crescent Parkway; fill trays with generous portions of food; label the tray lids with the contents and date or preparation; return the meals to the freezer compartment of the refrigerator in Father Childs Hall. Epiphany Parish Altar-Rosary Society, Brick, is hosting its annual baby shower for mothers in crisis. All donations will benefit The Sisters of Life. Only new items will be accepted. No furniture donations. Donations can be drooped off in the commons area until March 20.

Holy Innocents Parish, Neptune, will host a pro-life event Feb. 23 at 7 p.m. immediately following Stations of the Cross. A presentation will be given by Michael Phelps of Good Counsel Homes, which provides housing to pregnant women and their children. A showing of the film “Unplanned” will follow. The event, themed, “The Lost Rhythm: Unveiling the History of Drums and Slavery,” will feature a literary compilation by Angela Dodson Days, Negro spiritual songs and songs from Africa an African cultural performance by Dennies Chico Greenflower of Trenton.

Presenter will be Capuchin Father Simeon Gallagher. The theme is “The Freedom to Believe: Becoming an Adult Catholic. Each day covers a different theme – “Stories of Escape from Self” (Lk 7:36-50); “Escape from False Values and Religious Adolescence (Lk 14:28-33); “Quest Stories: Humanity as Grace” (Jn 3:1-10), and “Love Stories: The Freedom Only Christ Can Give” (Jn 4:4-42).
Father Gallagher holds advanced degrees in religious education, ascetical theology and 19th century British Literature. His literature degree has earned him a reputation as a scholar in the works of John Henry Cardinal Newman. His work has taken him to El Salvador, where he was instrumental in founding Emmaus in Great Britain, has presented ecumenical lectures at Jean XXIII Centre, Geneva, Switzerland, and for the past several years he has worked closely with the U.S. Armed Forces at various military bases around the world.
