Twentieth Sunday in Ordinary Time

I never thought that I was going to do this. For years, I have been reading articles, news, some blogs (especially fashion ones) from different authors around the world, but I never thought that once in my life I will have the opportunity to be writing for a blog. The Lord really works in very mysterious ways.

Lately I have been thinking a lot of how life goes very fast. How all the choices that we have made in our lives, have taken us to the moment we are right now. Are we in a good moment?

I think that we almost always spend our time thinking about what our future is going to be like and what we must do tomorrow, instead of focusing on the moment we are in today. Well, they say that it is better to do what you can today, and not leave it until tomorrow. And even though it is a very simple phrase that many of us have heard several times, in my opinion it is very powerful.

At the end of the day, the only one who knows what is going to happen tomorrow is God.

Knowing this, I think it is good to take a moment to think about how we are living our lives, whether the decisions we make every day are the best or fall short.

We live in a world in which it seems that human beings do not want to live under the will of God. Where we are so quick to judge others instead of loving them as they are. Where material things have much more power than human life and where it is more important to obey the laws that we have created and than the laws of God.

Sadly, the decisions of others impact our lives exponentially. It’s sad to see people, even nations, that do not allow themselves to feel the love of Jesus, and instead they decide to make fun of, disrespect, and even forget about Him.

In the second reading of this Sunday, the book of Ephesians shares with us this passage:

Brothers and sisters:

Watch carefully how you live,
not as foolish persons but as wise,
making the most of the opportunity,
because the days are evil.
