The Feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary

It’s September 10th, school is starting, fall sports are rolling in and summer is over. Are you stressed yet? I feel stress inkling in just writing that down. But guess what? Even in the midst of all the chaos, we have God’s grace and providence. This week, I want to remind you of someone who promises peace and protection. Mother Mary.

If your relationship with Mother Mary isn’t too strong or maybe even non-existent, I challenge you this time around to seek her out. Not because she’s the Mother of Jesus (even though that in itself is amazing and incredible) but because Mother Mary is the Mother of Peace, the Mother of Hope and Mother of Love. How do I know that? Because Jesus is the Prince of Peace, the Prince of Hope and Prince of Love, so naturally His Mother would share the same.

So, if Mother Mary is the Mother of Peace, Hope and Love, wouldn’t you think it’s worth something to start up a conversation with her? She’s not someone who can change your circumstances immediately, but when you ask Mother Mary to pray for you, as the Mother of Jesus she can bring your prayers directly to the big guy. Yeah, that’s right. When you feel like Jesus isn’t listening (even though he always is) tell His mom and she’ll work something out for you.

In all seriousness, during this week of the celebration of the birth of Mother Mary, we challenge you to seek her out. When stress overwhelms you, or you start to feel your heartbeat a little faster when you wake up, think about our Holy Mother. The woman who was approached by the Archangel Gabriel and was told she was to carry the Son of God. At that moment, when her whole life was changing, she didn’t get stressed, she didn’t crumble to the ground. She held onto her yes, and to the fact that God had His Will in play in her life. She can help you to do the same, to live a life of faith the way she did, so perfectly. Whether it be through simply going through the prayers of the rosary, or even just looking up and praying The Memorare, which is a Catholic prayer seeking the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Take a chance, and let your Holy Spiritual Mother be your Mother of Peace, Hope and Love during the chaos, the calm and in between. Let’s pray The Memorare:

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thine intercession was left unaided.

Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto thee, O virgin of virgins, my mother; to thee do I come, before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer me.

Amen.
