In support of the Van Trease family, all are welcome to St. Peter Parish, Point Pleasant Beach, for a spiritual retreat July 15 focusing on the teachings and healing works of St Pio of Pietrelcina.

Hosted by longtime parishioner Joe Leone, with coordinated effort from members of the Healing Encounter Ministry, Secular Franciscans, Rosarians and friends, the retreat will take place 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the St. Peter School cafeteria, 415 Atlantic Avenue, and will include lunch provided by Joe Leone. The day will include time for prayer and support of Aaron Van Trease and his family.

A star quarterback and 2023 graduate of Holmdel’s St. John Vianney High School football team, Aaron was injured during a fall 2022 game, and subsequently became paralyzed from the neck down. Spending the last nine months in recovery, he has focused his prayer to Padre Pio. Van Trease will give his testimony on his personal growth in faith since the accident.

Admission is free, but donations will be accepted to send Aaron and his family on pilgrimage to the Shrine of St. Pio in San Giovanni Rotondo, southern Italy, in September.
