Franciscan Sister Joan Dreisbach, formerly Sister Henry Kathryn, died Jan. 2 in Assisi House, Aston, Pa.

Born in Allentown, Pa., Sister Joan entered the Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia in 1947 and professed her first vows in 1950.

She earned a bachelor of science degree in nursing from Villanova University, Villanova, Pa., and a master’s degree in administration from St. John University, N.Y.

She ministered primarily in healthcare and healthcare administration, serving for 31 years in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia;

20 years in the Diocese of Harrisburg, Pa., and 17 years in St. Leo the Great Parish, Lincroft.

She received the Nostrum Ecclesiam Tempus Award in 2007.

Funeral services are scheduled for Jan. 12 in Assisi House., and will be livestreamed.

A Christian Wake Service will be held at 9:30 a.m. followed by viewing. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Aston.

Sister Joan is survived by two sisters, a her sister-in-law, nieces and nephews and her Franciscan family.

Memorial donations can be sent to the Sisters of St. Francis Foundation, 609 S. ConventRd., Aston, PA 19014.
