Remembering Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI

The January issue of The Monitor Magazine features special reporting on the life and legacy of Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI as the Church around the world mourned his death on Dec. 31, 2022.
Amid the torrent of universal reporting that has been published since the news broke, The Monitor has curated special content to help readers get to know more about the late retired pope, including an extended biography of his long and impactful ministry as a priest, cardinal and pope, as well as a compilation of some of his many compelling statements and messages, and coverage of his funeral services in Rome. We especially call your attention to the homily text delivered by Bishop David M. O’Connell, C.M., for the Diocese of Trenton’s Memorial Mass for Pope Benedict, and a full report on that Mass, which was attended by hundreds and seen by thousands more via livestream.
