Art of Catechesis course offered virtually in February

The six-hour series will take place online from 6:30-8:30 p.m. on Thursday evenings Feb. 2, 9 and 16, and is open to both new and seasoned catechists, as well as those discerning becoming catechists. A foundational course toward the diocesan Certificate in Catechesis, the series aims to help define the role of a catechist and acknowledges that the catechist is responding to a call of faith that originates outside of themselves. The series is also offered in-person as multiple-day or one-day sessions in parishes throughout the Diocese.
Subjects will include the role of the catechist, sources and methods for catechesis, tools and practice. Following the course, attendees will be able to prepare for each class more effectively; better engage students in the learning and formation process; more confidently lead, guide, teach and inspire; know available resources for class planning, preparation and execution; and encourage, form and inform their own lives of faith.
