‘The Church of Today’

We took a few extra days to produce The Monitor Magazine’s February issue so that we could bring readers special coverage on one of the most exciting and hopeful events that happens each year in this local Church – the Diocesan Youth Conference.  The DYC – which brought together some 750 youth and their adult advisors from across our four counties – is the latest COVER STORY, with lots of dynamic photos that help to tell the story of this extraordinary annual experience.

And that’s just getting started…. Here are just some of the highlights of the new magazine issue:

IN FOCUS: MARRIAGE . . . Bishop O’Connell shares poignant writings on the Sacrament of Matrimony; Diocesan marriage initiative featured in new book; Couple marks 40 years of marriage with convalidation

LENT . . . Preview of Bishop O’Connell’s inspiring message for a holy Lent; Diocesan guidelines for fasting, abstinence; Operation Rice Bowl returns

ANNUAL CATHOLIC APPEAL  . . . Reflecting the Eucharistic relationship at the heart of 2023 diocesan appeal

RESPECT LIFE . . .  Standing Together for Life Mass and seminar bring together various pro-life advocates; First March for Life in D.C. since Dobbs draws crowds from across the Diocese and nation

CATHOLIC SCHOOLS WEEK . . . Showcase of Catholic schools’ progress and upgrades reveals much to celebrate; Belmar, Toms River schools mark milestone anniversaries

ALSO …. Be sure to look for these items: Miraculous Medal Shrine elevated to Basilica; Round-up of Pope Francis’ recent trip to Congo and South Sudan; Church’s response to the devastating earthquakes in Syria and Turkey; A Black History Month profile on the late Dr. Lena Edwards; The grief of Tyre Nichols’ mother touches nation

Finally, we hope that you will join us in observing Catholic Press Month and recognizing the effort that goes into the media ministry here in the Diocese.  Please check out Readers’ Corner and spread the word about the need to support this important work.

The February print edition has been mailed to all PREMIUM SUBSCRIBERS and the digital edition link has been sent to their inboxes. Subscribers also have unlimited access to all content on TrentonMonitor.com.
