The approximately 700 young people from around the Diocese who turned out for the Feb. 4 Diocesan Youth Conference are spending their Saturday in Toms River connecting with one another and with their Catholic faith.

During the daylong conference, held on the campus of St. Joseph Parish/Donovan Catholic High School and has “Connected” as its theme, the gathering of eighth grade through high school-aged youth are engaging in a variety of activities  -- hearing a keynote talk by Steve Angrisano, an internationally known Catholic speaker and composer; participating in small group discussions on how to stay connected with phones responsibly, and participating in a “Happy Hope” service project in which they made bags to be given to hospitalized children in each county of the Diocese as well as in Philadelphia.

The day will round out with the Mass that Bishop David M. O’Connell, C.M., will celebrate at 5 p.m.

TrentonMonitor.com will have extended coverage of DYC beginning Feb. 5, and The Monitor Magazine’s February issue will carry a special DYC feature. To request a copy of the diocesan magazine, write to [email protected].
