Parishes in the Diocese joined the Church throughout the world in celebrating the First Sunday of Advent, Dec. 3. On this day, the Advent wreath is blessed and then usually parishioners are invited to light the first purple candle.

The four-week season which calls upon the faithful to reflect on the coming of Christ at Christmas ends on Dec. 24 at which time the Christmas season begins.
