CBA community witnesses installation of new school president

“It is with profound humility, yet great enthusiasm that I accept this special call to stewardship of Christian Brothers Academy,” Fales said. “I stand before you today in a spirit of deep gratitude.
The installation took place during a Mass celebrated Sept. 17 in St. Leo the Great Church, Lincroft. Father John Folchetti, pastor, served as principal celebrant. Concelebrants included Father Christopher Dayton, a CBA graduate, who was homilist, and Father Garry Koch, a former faculty member. Christian Brother Robert Shaefer, provincial of the Brothers’ District of Eastern North America, guided Fales in reciting the presidential oath of office and presented him with a medallion engraved with the school seal.
As president, Fales follows in the footsteps of three Brothers of the Christian Schools who have served as CBA president: Brother Andrew O’Gara, Brother Frank Byrne and Brother Thomas Gerrow.
Prior to becoming president, Fales has served on the CBA staff since 2006. Most recently he was the school’s ninth principal. He also served as the associate principal for student affairs and dean of students as well as a member of the science department. As principal, he guided the all-boys secondary school to several accomplishments, including the school’s being named a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence in 2017. It was the second time in the school’s history that CBA earned the honor and was one of 50 high schools nationally to receive the distinction that year.
In his role as president, Fales will serve as the chief administrator during an important time in the school’s history. Changes are being made to the 157-acre campus that include the construction of multiple facilities and additional projects scheduled to be completed in the coming years.
Fales has had a longtime affiliation with the Brothers of the Christian Schools, of which CBA is a part. He was a member of the Brothers District Mission Executive Council, working with the brothers to support the Lasallian educational initiatives. He also directed the school’s curriculum which emphasizes strong academics, supplemented by impactful experiences in faith, service, extracurricular activities and athletics.
“As president of CBA, I will strive to uphold the great legacy built by the brothers and lay faculty and staff before me, while gilding CBA in the progress necessary to continue delivering a mission-driven, high quality, character focused, holistic and Catholic education in this 21st century,” Fales said.
