Feast of St. Francis is commemorated around the Diocese
October 4, 2022 at 8:45 p.m.
To commemorate the memorial St. Francis of Assisi, whose feast day is Oct. 4, parishes and schools around the diocese held special prayer services and pet blessings. While some of the blessings were rescheduled as remnants of Hurricane Ian brought heavy wind and rain to the diocese, some faith communities welcomed dogs, cats, goldfish, birds, rabbits and even stuffed animals to receive a special blessing in honor of the patron saint of animals.
