With nearly 150 people in attendance, concertgoers in St. Justin the Martyr Parish, Toms River, were treated Oct. 24 to a performance by the Toms River Multigenerational Orchestra – a group of local musicians of all ages that performs regularly in various nearby venues, including other parishes of the Diocese like St. Barnabas, Bayville, and St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, Whiting.

The performance – a mixture of Broadway and movie music, classical pieces by Vivaldi, Tchaikovsky and Dvorak – was livestreamed as well, and can be viewed on St. Justin the Martyr Parish’s Youtube channel by clicking here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jac325D9BRA

“The performance was fantastic!” said parishioner Carol Lewandowski. “They are an extremely talented group of musicians, and the concert was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone who attended.”

Under the direction of Susan Degoey, the group comprises about 50 musicians who volunteer their time and talents to the group. The free will offering collected for the performance was used to help defray the orchestra costs, and the orchestra will donate a large portion to local food banks.

The TRMO orchestra will perform Dec. 5 at 7 p.m. in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish hall, and in St. Barnabas on Dec. 19. For details and tickets visit seaswhiting.org.
