For those serving as Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion – whether in a parish or bringing Communion to the sick and homebound – the diocesan Office of Pastoral Life and Mission, is sponsoring several special events in the upcoming months.

Inspired by the Eucharistic Revival, the events are each different in format and theme. Participants are encouraged to select any or all of the opportunities that best fit their schedule. Registration is available at dioceseoftrenton.org/EMreflection.

Nov. 15, 7 - 8:30 p.m. – Evening of Reflection in Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish, 42 West Main St., Moorestown. Father Jim Grogan, pastor, will host an hour of Adoration before the Blessed Sacrament, which will include a reflection and conclude with Benediction. An opportunity for faith-sharing around the role and experience of serving as an Extraordinary Minister, facilitated by Terry Ginther, diocesan chancellor and executive director, Office of Pastoral Life and Mission, will follow.

Nov. 28 – Dec. 2, 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. – Teaching Series in St. Anthony of Padua Parish, 156 Maxwell Ave., Hightstown. This series, while of special interest to Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion, is open to all who are interested. Each evening will explore teaching about the Eucharist from a different angle, presented by Father Oscar Sumanga, parish pastor who also serves as diocesan judicial vicar and vice chancellor. Also presenting is visiting priest Father John Del Rosario. Participants can attend any number of the meetings of interest that week.

Feb. 11, 9 - 11 a.m. – Morning of Reflection in St. Benedict Parish, 165 Bethany Rd., Holmdel. Themed “Reveal the Healing Love of Jesus to Those in Need,” this morning will correspond with the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes, when the Church celebrates the World Day of the Sick. Father Garry Koch, pastor, will celebrate morning Mass, during which he will preach a special homily for the feast day. Time will be allotted for reflection before the Blessed Sacrament. Light refreshments will be offered after Mass, as well as break-out sessions for stories and sharing – one for those who serve primarily at liturgy, and one for those who bring Communion to the sick or homebound.

March 22, 7 - 9 p.m. – Lenten Evening of Reflection in St. Robert Bellarmine Co-Cathedral, 61 Georgia Rd., Freehold. Extraordinary Ministers are invited to gather for an evening of reflection themed “Biblical Images of the Eucharist,” led by Msgr. Sam Sirianni, Co-cathedral rector, and Jennifer Elsensohn, pastoral associate. The event will be an opportunity for participants to deepen their spirituality by reflecting on images in Scripture that lead one to Christ present in the Eucharist.
