Donald “Eddie” Blanchett, father of Father Edward Blanchett, pastor of Visitation Parish, Brick, died Jan. 19 in East Brunswick. He was 83.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Jan. 22 in Immaculate Conception Church, Spotswood. Entombment was in Holy Cross Burial Park Mausoleum, South Brunswick.

Mr. Blanchett was born in New York City. He served in the U.S. Navy and was discharged in 1961. He worked for 45 years for Burlington Industries. In Immaculate Conception Parish he was involved with the Knights of Columbus, Marriage Encounter and worked the parish Christmas toy drive for more than 25 years

Mr. Blanchett was predeceased by his wife, Dora, who died in July 2021, and his daughter-in-law, Mary Lee Blanchett. In addition to Father Blanchett, Mr. Blanchett is survived by two daughters, Sandra (Anthony) Zema of Jamesburg, and Nancy (John) Bourne of Spotswood; several siblings; two grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.  

Memorial donations in Mr. Blanchett’s name may be made to the dementia foundation of the donor’s choice.
