News of the season

We are a culture driven by the season, and this September issue of The Monitor Magazine reports on one of the year’s busiest seasons, especially in the Church. Our young people are returning to schools, to catechetical studies and youth groups. Parish life in general is swinging into action after the relative quiet of the summer.

This month’s IN FOCUS, titled “Back to the Classroom,” includes coverage of what’s new this year in our Catholic schools and parish catechetical programs, especially the emphasis on the Eucharist with this year’s national revival, and the inspiring example of Blessed Carlo Acutis, under whose patronage Bishop David M. O’Connell, C.M., has placed all young people in the Diocese.  Here’s a sampling of what else you’ll find in this special section:

  • Writings of Bishop O’Connell: “Catholic Schools: Truth in Advertising,” and catechesis on deepening faith life in response to contemporary culture.
  • Feature on the VOCATION OF TEACHING – Meet four of the educators who are greeting our Catholic school children this year
  • Snapshot profiles of new principals and new parish catechetical leaders
  • Messages from diocesan education leaders

A season of another kind is explored in this issue with messages from Pope Francis and Bishop O’Connell on “Listening to the Voice of Creation.” The Season of Creation began Sept. 1 on the World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation, and will end Oct. 4, the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi.  Read why this is so important and what the faithful are being called upon to do.

There’s lots more to find in the new issue about the parishes and people of the Diocese of Trenton, including special anniversaries; multi-parish soccer tournament; local Catholic men who led a Little League team to victory, and a deacon who has written about war, triumph of faith.

The September print edition has been mailed to all PREMIUM SUBSCRIBERS and the digital edition link has been sent to their inboxes. Subscribers also have unlimited access to all content on TrentonMonitor.com. Not yet a subscriber? Sign up today safely and conveniently by clicking HERE, or writing to [email protected].
