Mother-Daughter Tea set for May 15 aims to build healthy relationships

A special family life program, a “Wonderfully Made” Mother-Daughter Tea, is scheduled for May 15. Sponsored by the diocesan Department of Evangelization and Family Life, the event will take place 12:30 – 3 p.m. in the faith formation center cafeteria of St. Denis Parish, 90 Union Ave., Manasquan.

A part of the 2022 Mother-Daughter NFP Awareness Initiative, the program is meant to be offered in parishes using the traditional Mother-Daughter Tea model. Mothers and daughters ages 10 and older, as well as aunts and grandmothers, are invited to attend the afternoon. A full description of the program is available at dioceseoftrenton.org/mother-daughter-tea.

“All moms need help from time to time as we guide our daughters through the turbulent teen years,” the program website states. “Moms need a community of support – one that encourages them and affirms their values. The “Wonderfully Made” Mother-Daughter Tea empowers mothers to pass on the wisdom of their experience about fertility awareness, positive body image and human dignity from the Catholic perspective. A relationship built on trust and open communication between moms and daughters is essential through every stage of womanhood - from pre-teen to teen to adult and beyond.”

The program is divided into three segments: 1) Chastity / Human Dignity / Healthy Relationships, 2) Introduction to Fertility Awareness / Puberty; and 3) Mothers-Only Panel Discussion – how to develop an on-going relationship of trust and open communication with daughters. Each portion of the teaching program can be done as a stand-alone teaching event in parishes.

Cost is $20 per family. Registration is open at dioceseoftrenton.org/mother-daughter-tea, or by calling Betsy Rice at St. Denis Parish, 732-223-0287.
