Sisters of Life to visit St. Michael Church April 2-3


Members of the Sisters of Life religious community will share their message of the sanctity and dignity of every human life at all ten Masses the weekend of April 2-3 at St. Michael Church, 800 Ocean Avenue, West End.

In addition to their witness during Mass, the Sisters will conduct classroom visits with the Sunday-session religious education students, sharing stories about growing up in, and living, the Catholic faith. They will be available for one-on-one conversations or counseling sessions for those in need of prayer or advice; the conversations will be held in the Lower church, or, weather permitting, in the parish gazebo rose garden near the rectory.

The Sisters also will meet with the students of Monmouth University’s Catholic Campus Ministry for their on-campus 7 p.m. Sunday Mass with Father Mark Nillo, St. Michael parochial vicar, and join in conversation and fellowship after Mass.

The Sisters of Life community was founded in 1991 by Cardinal John O’Connor of New York as pro-life missionaries. In addition to the traditional vows or poverty, chastity and obedience, the Sisters of Life take a fourth vow to protect and enhance the sacredness of every human life. They are known for their support and counseling of pregnant women in need of assistance, their inner-city apostolate and respite residences, and public speaking appearances at numerous pro-life events.
