Sister Mary DiLeone, a member of the Sisters of St. Francis of Penance and Christian Charity, died Aug. 26 in Stella Niagara Health Center, Stella Niagara, N.Y., at age 88.

Born in 1933 in North Tonawana, N.Y., she entered the congregation Sept. 5, 1954, at Stella Niagara; made first profession of on July 2, 1957, and final profession Aug. 18, 1960. She earned a bachelor of science degree in elementary education from Rosary Hill (Daemen) College in 1964.

Sister Mary served in the ministries of pastoral care and education in the Dioceses of Trenton; Metuchen; Buffalo, N.Y.; Wheeling-Charleston, W.Va., and Columbus, Ohio. In the Trenton Diocese she taught in the former St. Agnes School, Atlantic Highlands.  She also served in St. Francis International School, Rome, Italy.

She retired in 2009 and lived in the Stella Niagara Health Center community since August, 2015. She is survived by two sisters, nieces, nephews and members of her community.

Memorial donations may be made to the Sisters of St. Francis Retirement Fund, 4421 Lower River Road, Stella Niagara, N.Y. 14144
