Marie Margaret Desire, wife of deacon, dies


Marie Margaret Desire, wife of Deacon Luders Desire, died Sept. 8 in her home in Burlington Township. She was 61.

Born in 1960 in Port Salut, Haiti, graduated from high school in the Republique du Bresil and pursued a college education as a social worker. She taught and served as principal at the College Paul Etzer Vilaire, a private elementary school in Carrefour, Port-au-Prince, Haiti. She and Luders were married in 1988 and emigrated to the United States shortly after which they settled in Princeton and then in 1996 relocated to Burlington Township.

In New Jersey, Mrs. Desire worked as a certified nursing assistant for more than 20 years at Virtua Hospital, Willingboro. She also worked per-diem for more than 10 years at Virtua Health and Rehabilitation Center, Mount Holly.

In addition to her mother, Annela Maurice and husband, Deacon Luders, who is assigned to Our Lady of Sorrows-St. Anthony Parish, Hamilton, Mrs. Desire is survived by her three children, Jessica, Aaron and Alex; three siblings and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Burial was in Laurel Hill Cemetery, Burlington.
