Funeral services for Dora Mercedes Blanchett, mother of priest

Funeral services will begin July 8 with a viewing from 4 to 7 p.m. and July 9 from 9 to 10 a.m. in DeMarco Funeral Home, 205 Rhode Hall Rd., Monroe Township. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at July 9 at 10:30 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church 18 South Street Spotswood.
Mrs. Blanchett was born in Tunja, Colombia and later moved to Bogota where she lived until emigrating to the United States at age 16. She lived in Flushing, Queens, N.Y., and after finishing high school she married Donald (Eddie) Blanchett in 1962. The couple lived in Lodi before moving to Monroe Township where they raised their family.
She was a stay-at-home mother, however worked in the cafeteria and was a bookkeeper for the Monroe Township school system until she retired in 2015. In Immaculate Conception Parish, she was a member of the Altar-Rosary Society, Marriage Encounter team and worked with the Christmas toy drive for more than 25 years.
Mrs. Blanchett was predeceased by her parents, four sisters and daughter-in-law.
In addition to being survived by her husband and Father Blanchett, she is survived by two daughters, Sandra (Anthony) Zema of Jamesburg, and Nancy (John) Bourne of Spotswood, and two grandchildren.
Entombment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Cranbury. Memorial contributions may be made to a dementia foundation of the donor’s choice.
