Marie Josephine McCann Woodrow, mother of priest, dies


Funeral services have been scheduled for Marie Josephine McCann Woodrow, who died Dec. 16 at age 78.

Mrs. Woodrow was the mother of Father Brian Patrick Woodrow, pastor of St. Dominic Parish, Brick.

Visitation will be Dec. 19 from 6 to 9 p.m. and Dec. 20 from 9 to 10 a.m. in St. Dominic Church, 250 Old Squan Road at which time a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated.

Mrs. Woodrow emigrated from Ireland to the United States in the last 1940s with her mother and aunt. She worked as a recreational therapist and was an active member of Holy Family Parish, Union Beach, for many years where she was involved with the Altar-Rosary Society and the parish choir. Most recently she joined St. Dominic Parish.

Mrs. Woodrow was predeceased by her parents and husband. In addition to Father Woodrow, she is survived by two daughters, Caroline of Wall and Kimberly of Union Beach, and another son, Michael, also of Union Beach, as well as many relatives living both in the United States and Ireland.

Entombment will follow the funeral Mass in St. Anne Mausoleum, Wall Township. Memorial donations may be made to the St. Dominic Church-School Endowment Fund, 250 Old Squan Road, Brick, N.J. 08724.
