Sister Margaret James Curtin, a member of the Dominican Sisters of Hope, died Dec. 1 in Brandywine Senior Living, Wall. She was 93.

Funeral services were scheduled for Dec. 7 in the Chapel of the Most Holy Rosary in the Dominican Center at Mount S.t Mary College, Newburgh. Burial was in the Dominican Sisters of Hope Cemetery on the grounds of Mount St. Mary College.

Born in 1928 in Jersey city, Sister Margaret James entered the novitiate of the Dominican Sisters of Newburgh Sept. 7, 1947, made her first profession June 25, 1949, and final profession Aug. 22, 1953. She held a bachelor of science degree from Seton Hall University, South Orange.

As an elementary school teacher, she taught in schools in New Jersey, New  York and North Carolina. In the Trenton Diocese, she worked in parish work in St. Mary Parish, Middletown, from 1990 to 2002 and she also taught in the parish school from 1990-1998. Completing her years of service in schools and parish, she moved to Middletown where she became involved in weekly visits to Riverview Hospital, Red Bank, and led in the recitation of the Rosary for her neighbors.

Sister Margaret James was predeceased by her parents, four sisters and a brother. She is survived by a niece.
