Deacon Jose J. Beauchamps of St. Mary of the Assumption Cathedral, dies

Born in Utuado, Puerto Rico, Deacon Beauchamps was part of the Puerto Rican Migration that arrived to the Trenton area. He was 17 when he left Puerto Rico, and worked for General Motors at various East Coast locations until he retired at age 62.
Deacon Beauchamps realized his vocation to the diaconate in 1985 and following his formation in the diocesan diaconate program he was ordained by Bishop John C. Reiss May 7, 1988, in St. Mary of the Assumption Cathedral, Trenton. Among the groups he served in were Cursillos de Cristiandad, Socios de Santo Nombre, Aventuras en Actitudes, Marriage Encounter, Group de Oracion Carismatico, “Rios De Aguas Viva,” Mujeras en Victoria as well as the Muscular Dystrophy of Puerto Rico. He was a leader of RENEW International and he visited the sick and imprisoned.
Deacon Beauchamps was predeceased by his parents, Alejandro and Angela Beauchamps; three children, Michael, Enid Ann and Karen Beauchamps; a brother and sister. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Aida L. (Albarran-Gonzalez) Beauchamps; children Irvin Beauchamps; Yvette Beauchamps-Cimino; Madeline Beauchamps; Lorraine Ann Stolberg; Daisy Beauchamps; Joe M. Beauchamps Jr.; seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; a brother-in-law, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and fellow parishioners from both the Cathedral and St. Joseph Parish.
Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Hamilton.
