Sally B. Hammerstone, former principal of St. Hedwig School, Trenton, dies

April 6, 2021 at 9:12 p.m.


Funeral services were held in Toms River April 6 for Sally B. Hammerstone, who died March 29 at age 82.

Mrs. Hammerstone was longtime Trenton resident, a member of the city’s St. Hedwig Parish and principal of the former St. Hedwig School. In 2000, she moved to Toms River and attended St. Catharine of Siena Parish, Seaside Park.

Mrs. Hammerstone was predeceased by her husband, James Allen Hammerstone, who died in 2008, and her daughter, Cynthia Kopec, who died in 2019. She is survived by her children, Lara (Rob) Enright; James (Jessica) of Boulder, CO; Michael (Karen) of Longmont, CO; a brother and sister-in-law, and three grandchildren.

Mrs. Hammerstone was entombed in St. Mary Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hamilton. Memorial donations may be made to Habitat for Humanity.
