The reporting of the news “should always be true and complete, within the bounds of justice and charity.”

Those words stem from the Second Vatican Council, but the idea that mass communications, at its best, has the potential to both advance the Gospel and serve others has been around since the beginning of the Church.

In The Monitor Magazine’s September In Focus section, Catholics are urged to ensure that media in all its forms is being used to spread truth – to “Help us to speak about others as our brothers and sisters,” as Pope Francis said in his 2018 World Communications Day message.
