Mass for health care workers Oct. 18 in Toms River

The dedication and service of health care workers will be recognized during a Mass Oct. 18 in St. Luke Church, Toms River.
The Mass will be held at 2 p.m. in the church at 1674 Old Freehold Road. Father Robert Grodnicki, parish pastor, will serve as celebrant, and Father Peter James Alindogan, pastor of St. Veronica Parish, Howell, and diocesan director of missions, will be among the concelebrants.
Traditionally called a White Mass, the celebration is open to all physicians, nurses, health care workers, caregivers and their families and friends from across the Diocese. In addition, the Year of the Nurse will also be recognized. Designated by the World Health Organization, the 2020 Year of the Nurse marks the 200th anniversary of Florence Nightingale's birth. It also seeks to draw attention to the vital role nurses and midwives play in transforming health care around the world.
St. Luke is the patron saint of physicians. His feast day is Oct. 18.
