In video message, Bishop O’Connell urges Diocese to have faith, patience

“As your Bishop, I wanted to reach out to you simply to tell you that I am thinking and praying for you, for all the faithful in this time of confusion, uncertainty and anxiety,” he said in the video published on the diocesan YouTube channel in English and translated into Spanish. “Not a moment has gone by in the past many days when I haven’t begged the Lord for his help as we all confront this pandemic, each in different ways.
He also urged parishioners to keep the faith and have patience because “when they come together, they bring about charity. … When we show charity toward others, our own worries diminish. That’s what love does.”
The 3 1/2-minute video was released on the same day that Bishop O’Connell announced the “unprecedented” but “necessary” steps to livestream or postpone Holy Week liturgies and wrote a letter to his flock to “use all the means available to sustain and nurture your faith.”
