During the observance of Catholic Schools Week, the school community opened its 150th anniversary year of providing Catholic education to students in Burlington County.
The sesquicentennial year commenced when the students, faculty, staff, parents and parish priests of Burlington’s St. Katharine Drexel Parish welcomed Bob Kelly and “Cameraman George” of Philadelphia’s Fox 29 News for a live broadcast of “Kelly’s Classroom.”
Video clips taken Feb. 4 in the school cafeteria – which was decorated with green and yellow balloons and table coverings – captured students waving “150” flags, the student bell choir performing, cheerleaders, stacked cans of soup collected for the “Souper Bowl” challenge, and Kelly leading all in the singing of “Happy Birthday” and blowing out candles on a birthday cake.
“There’s a lot going on today,” an exuberant Kelly said as he congratulated St. Paul School.
