Bishop to ordain one priest, six deacons for ministry in Diocese

Rev. Mr. Stephen Sansevere, who has served as a deacon of the Diocese since 2000, will be ordained a priest at a 10 a.m. Mass June 27. Exercising his long-time ministry in the community of St. Gabriel Parish in Marlboro, Deacon Sansevere began his priestly formation after the death of his wife in 2017. He has spent the past year serving in St. Theresa Parish, Little Egg Harbor. Following his priestly Ordination, he will be assigned as parochial vicar of St. James Parish, Pennington; St. George Parish, Titusville, and St. Alphonsus Parish, Hopewell.

Among the six men who will be ordained deacons during the June 20 Mass will be Rjoy Ballacillo, currently a seminarian who is in formation to serve as a priest in the Diocese of Trenton. Following his diaconal Ordination, he will be referred to as a transitional deacon. Ballacillo is expected to be ordained a priest next spring.

The other five candidates, John Edward Barrett, St. Martha Parish, Point Pleasant; Russell David Greiner, St. Joseph Parish, Toms River; Mark D. McNulty, St. Catharine-St. Margaret Parish, Spring Lake; John Senkewicz, St. Leo the Great Parish, Lincroft, and Edward Woram, St. Joseph Parish, Toms River, will be ordained as permanent deacons. They come from a variety of backgrounds and professional careers and are married with families. They have completed a five-year program of formation, and, upon their Ordination, will be assigned to parish ministry, for which they may preach and preside over weddings Baptisms, wakes and committals.

Due to current pandemic restrictions on large gatherings, attendance for both Masses will be by ticketed invitation only. However, the Masses will be livestreamed and can be viewed on YouTube.com/trentondiocese, or the homepages of DioceseofTrenton.org and TrentonMonitor.com.
