Immaculata Symphony to host youth concert

Conducted by Joseph Gehring, the concert opens with the timeless piece, "William Tell Overture," by Gioachino Rossini. Next, the sounds of "Orpheus in the Underworld Overture" by Jacques Offenbach, followed by highlights from Disney's "Pocahontas" by Alan Menken. After the performance, children are invited on stage to meet the musicians and to see and hear the instruments up close.
Gering is director of Ensembles and coordinator for music education in Immaculata University. Since 2004, he has worked with the Immaculata Symphony and was appointed music director in 2011. In addition he also serves as music director and conductor of the West Chester Band and the Checo Pops Orchestra.
Cost for the concert is $10 for adults and free for children under age 12 and are available online or at the door. More information and tickets are available at immaculatasymphony.org.
