Funeral services scheduled for Judith Penland, music minister in Barnegat parish

Judith “Judy” Penland, the longtime music minister in St. Mary Parish, Barnegat, died Jan. 3 in Southern Ocean Medical Center, Stafford Township. Funeral services will be held Jan. 7 in St. Mary of the Pines Church, 100 Bishop Lane, Manahawkin, with visitation starting at 10 a.m. and a Mass of Christian Burial following at 11.
Born in Philadelphia in 1954, Ms. Penland worked for many years in Washington, D.C., before moving to Barnegat and joining St. Mary Parish.
Ms. Penland was predeceased by her parents and three brothers. She is survived by her son, Robert; a granddaughter, Morgan; a brother; two sisters-in-law, and close friends.
Burial will be in St. Mary Parish Cemetery. Friends are requested to make memorial contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn. 38105 or to a charity of their choice.
