“Your hands are the hands of our Lord,” Bishop David M. O’Connell, C.M., told volunteers and staff as he looked around the full shelves and clothes racks that make up the St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Shop in Brick.
“As Bishop, I’m grateful for the work you do.”

Bishop O’Connell visited the store Oct. 2 to meet its staff and volunteers, tour the facility and bestow a blessing. The store, at 725 Mantoloking Road, is a ministry of the SVDP conference of Visitation Parish, Brick, located next door. It runs out of the same building that houses the nonprofit Seeds of Service. The two ministries work together to help those in need.
“This is a special day in the life of the parish,” said Father Edward Blanchett, parish pastor. “This is how we are called to be like Jesus – faith in action.”
