As part of his pastoral visit to the United States, the Superior General of the Brothers of the Christian Schools, Brother Robert Schieler, visited the campus of Christian Brothers Academy, Lincroft, the week of Nov. 18.

Visiting the Brothers’ District of Eastern North America, which is headquartered in Eatontown and serves much of the East Coast, Brother Robert sat in on the DENA Mission Council meetings that were taking place at CBA Nov. 18-19.

Brother Robert is stationed in Rome, where he directs more than 3,500 De La Salle brothers in 79 countries. He is the third American brother to be named superior general and the first from DENA.

As part of his many responsibilities as superior general, Brother Robert visits all Lasallian regions and districts during his seven-year term. His visit to DENA began Nov. 6 and concluded Nov. 20. He addressed the entire DENA community Nov. 8 from his alma mater, La Salle University, Philadelphia, as DENA celebrated its 10th anniversary as a district. CBA faculty and staff held an in-service to watch the address live on the web.

Brother Robert has been in the Lasallian community his entire life, beginning as a student in West Catholic Boys High School, Philadelphia.

During his time as a brother, he has served as teacher, vice principal, auxiliary visitor, visitor and more at a number of schools throughout the legacy district of Baltimore and the worldwide institute, most notably in Manila, Iligan and Bacolod, Philippines. Brother Robert holds master’s degrees in European history from the University of Notre Dame and Asian Studies from the University of Philippines as well as a doctorate in educational administration from the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia.
