St. Pio glove, other relics to be present at Healing Mass

A Divine Mercy Healing Mass, with the presence of a glove worn by St. Pio of Pietrelcina, will take place Nov. 10 at 3 p.m. in Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, part of Christ the King Parish, Long Branch.
Msgr. Lewis Papera, a retired priest of the Archdiocese of Newark, will celebrate the Mass, assisted by priests of the Diocese and Christ the King Parish Deacon Vince Ricciardi. The event is sponsored by the parish’s Divine Mercy Healing Ministry, which holds a Divine Mercy service every second Sunday of the month in Holy Trinity Church, Long Branch, which is also part of Christ the King Parish.
The Divine Mercy Chaplet will be recited at the conclusion of Mass, with Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament.
“The glove of Padre Pio was given to Msgr. Papera’s father many years ago, and has traveled throughout the United States and Canada,” said Deacon Ricciardi, who has been one of the leaders of the Divine Mercy Healing Ministry since 1997. “The Mass is for all in need of spiritual, physical and mental healing. Msgr. Papera will be doing the Anointing of the Sick, so anyone wishing to have the Anointing should go to Reconciliation either before or as soon after.”
