World Mission Sunday message from Father Peter James Alindogan
July 29, 2019 at 12:37 p.m.
Dear Friend of the Missions,
Our World Mission Sunday this year, which falls on October 23, is a special day for all of us who are called, by Baptism, and are involved in the missionary work of the Church.
On that Sunday, every nation, even our poorest mission countries, shares and contributes to the mission needs of the Church worldwide. It is joyously celebrated in every country, in every diocese and in every parish – in a remote chapel far out in the African bush, in a predominantly Muslim or Hindu area in Asia, in a poor village in Latin America.
We are citizens of the world, members of the one Body of Christ, and are at
our best when we act lovingly and generously to our brothers and sisters in the Missions.
This year, please pray for the people of the Missions and for missionaries. I ask also for your generous help, to provide for the work of the Mission Church in pastoral service, education, health care and community outreach.
Whatever you can contribute to the collection for the Society for the Propagation of the Faith in your parish will be a great blessing to all our local priests, religious and lay catechists throughout Asia, Africa, the Pacific Islands, and parts of Europe and Latin America.
Asking the Lord to bless you for your generous missionary spirit, I am
Gratefully in the Lord,
Rev. Peter James Alindogan
Diocesan Director
