A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated June 20 in Our Lady of Charity Church, Brookhaven, Pa., for William E. Grogan, Sr., father of newly ordained Father James J. Grogan, who is now parochial vicar in Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish, Moorestown. Mr. Grogan passed away of natural causes June 17 at the age of 91.

The funeral Mass was concelebrated by Father James Grogan as well as his brother, Father William Grogan, Jr., who serves as pastor of Holy Cross Parish, Philadelphia.

Born in Philadelphia and a Brookhaven resident for nearly 50 years, Mr. Grogan served in the U.S. Army during WW-II. He was a graduate of St. Joseph College, Philadelphia, and worked in truck sales. A parishioner of Our Lady of Charity Parish, he served as a reader, sat on various parish councils and was often tapped to serve as master of ceremonies for church events. He was also an active member for more than three decades of the Del-Chester Serra Club, promoting vocations within the Catholic Church.

Mr. Grogan was predeceased by two brothers, Father Thomas Grogan and Father James Grogan; a sister, Mary Grogan; and by his daughter-in-law Ellie Grogan. In addition to his two priest sons, Mr. Grogan is survived by his wife, Nora (Loughrey), as well as his four other children – Maryanne (James) Porter, Woodlyn, Pa., Patricia (Donald) Byrnes, York, Pa., Jean (Robert) Blaisse, Newtown Square, Pa., and Thomas (Nancy) Grogan, Wallingford, Pa. – his 18 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and dozens of nieces and nephews.
