What you need to know to attend Our Lady of Guadalupe pilgrimage in Trenton


As churches in each county of the Diocese continue to celebrate Las Antorchas Guadalupanas – a series of traveling torch lightings leading up to the feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe – many are gearing up for the Diocese-wide pilgrimage Dec. 3 in Trenton that will bring the torches together.

During the pilgrimage, there will be fellowship, recitation of the Rosary and music provided from choirs of all ages.

Following are the times and locations for those wishing to take part in the day of faith, prayer, culture and camaraderie Dec. 3:

8 a.m. Immaculate Conception Church, 540 Chestnut Ave., Trenton, 08611. (A worship site of Our Lady of the Angels Parish.) The starting point for those from Burlington, Monmouth and Ocean Counties and their torches. Once gathered, the procession of torches and people will make their way to St. Joseph Church.

 8 a.m. St. Mary of the Assumption Cathedral, 149 N. Warren St., Trenton, 08608. For those unable to take part in the walk, a large screen will be set up in the lower level of the cathedral, and the pilgrimage will be shown via livestream.

• 9 a.m. St. Joseph Church, 540 N. Olden Ave., Trenton, 08638. Mercer County parishioners and torches meet for prayer, song and festivities as they await the pilgrimage group from Burlington, Monmouth and Ocean Counties. Once the four counties come together, they will proceed to the cathedral.

• Noon, St. Mary of the Assumption Cathedral, 149 N. Warren St., Trenton 08608. Mass in the cathedral begins, as the pilgrimage groups have arrived.

After Mass in the cathedral, there will be traditional Hispanic music, dances, food and more in the lower level of the cathedral as well as the parish gymnasium across the street. The festivities will continue to be streamed live on Facebook.

 Transportation: Shuttle service will be available from the cathedral to the pilgrimage walking sites. For more information and updates, visit www.dioceseoftrenton.org/Guadalupe2016.
