'What Is Marriage?' workshop scheduled June 18


A lecture on “What Is Marriage? – A Defense of the Definition ‘One man & One Woman,’” will be held June 18 at 7 p.m. in St. Paul Church, 214 Nassau St., Princeton.

Speaker will be Robert P. George, McCormick Professor of Jurisprudence and director of the James Madison Program in American Ideals and Institutions in Princeton University.

George is a member of the U .S. Commission on International Religious Freedom and has served on the president’s council on bioethics and as a presidential appointee to the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights. He was a judicial fellow at the Supreme Court of the United States where he received the Justice Tom C. Clark Award. He is the author or editor of numerous books in the field of constitutional law, ethics and legal and political philosophy and has recently co-authored the book, “What is Marriage? Man and Woman: A Defense” with Sherif Girgis and Ryan T. Anderson. George is a recipient of the U.S. Presidential Citizens Medal and the Honorific Medal for the Defense of Human Rights of the Republic of Poland. He is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.
