The archbishop, who served as the personal secretary of Pope John Paul II until the pontiff’s death, is visiting the United States, including New Jersey towns of Newark and Trenton.
In his homily, Archbishop Mokrzycki spoke about the deep and devoted prayer life of St. John Paul II. He noted how the former pope had such a profound focus during prayer that he was able to isolate himself from everything around him to come into union with God.
The archbishop also spoke of St. John Paul II’s relationship with others, particularly how he was able to make each person he encountered feel like the only person who mattered in that moment.
